JOINT CSIR for Junior Research Fellowship 2019 and 2020
The CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) NET is the National Level Exam conducted by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research to determine the eligibility of the students to apply for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) or LS (Lectureship).
The National Eligibility Exams are conducted twice in each year in the month of June and December. CSIR has fixed number of fellowships to the universities and institute for the students who qualify the CSIR NET JRF. The JRFs are awarded to the top meritorious students from among the students qualifying for eligibility for lectureship in the NET.
CSIR NET / JRF Schedule:
CSIR conducts NET Exams twice in a year, in the months of June and December. Students Willing to appear in the examination shall prepare for it at least 12 months before from applying of CSIR NET examination. Bachelor of Science (BS) 4 years program or BE or B.Tech or B.Pharma or MBBS or Integrated BS-MS or M.Sc. or Equivalent degree or B.Sc(Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in integrated MS-Ph.D program with at least 55% marks for General & OBC and 50% for SC or ST candidates, Physically and Visually handicapped candidates).
Candidates with bachelor’s degree, whether Science, engineering or any other discipline, will be eligible for fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for Ph.D/integrated Ph.D. programme within the validity period of two years.
Candidate enrolled for M.Sc. or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination are also eligible to apply in the above subject under the Result Awaited (RA) category.
The age limit for applying to the Test is as under:
- For Junior Research Fellowships (JRF through CSIR-UGC NET): Maximum 28 years (upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes/Schedule Tribes/, Physically Handicapped/Visually Handicapped and female applicants whereas 3 years in case of OBCs (Non-creamy layer candidates).
- For Lectureship (NET): There is no age limit for LS.
Scheme of Test
CSIR-UGC (NET) Exam for Award of Junior Research Fellowship and Lectureship shall be a Single Paper Test having MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions). The question paper comprising of three parts.
Part : A
This part shall contain 20 questions pertaining to General Science, Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis and Research Aptitude. The students shall be required to attempt any 15 questions. Each question shall be of two marks. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 30 out of 200.
Part : B
This part shall contain 25 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) questions in this part shall be subject-related conventional MCQ. Each question shall be of 3.5 Marks. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 70 out of 200 marks. Students are required to answer any 20 questions.
Part : C
This part shall contain 30 higher value (each 5 marks) questions that may test the knowledge of students of scientific concepts and application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem. A candidate shall be required to answer any 20. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 100 out of 200.
25% mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
